Cat Chocolate Toxicity Guide

Cats are even more sensitive to theobromine than dogs due to:

  • Slower metabolism - Takes 4x longer to eliminate theobromine
  • Smaller body size - Lower toxicity thresholds
  • Lack of sweet receptors - Won't stop eating due to taste
  • Liver differences - Less efficient at processing toxins
Critical: Just 0.2 oz of dark chocolate per pound can be lethal to cats.
